Global Impacts of Afrofuturism explored Afrofuturism as
a global framework for futures thinking, innovation, and
social transformation. Hosted at UC San Diego's Great
Hall, the program examined how Afrofuturist
approaches influence education, technology, health,
climate justice, and cultural production across the
African diaspora and beyond.
This event positioned Afrofuturism not only as an artistic
movement, but as a strategic methodology for
reimagining systems, reclaiming historical narratives,
and designing more equitable futures. Through keynote
dialogue, interdisciplinary conversation, and
participatory engagement, attendees were able to
connect speculative imagination with real-world impact.
