Our Vision is to provide an educational, entertaining, and informative space for creative and critical thinkers alongside community builders to experience Black Comix as an art as well as an industry of opportunities.

We were all set to ENJOY 3rd Annual celebration of Black Comics, Sci-Fi, Afrofuturism, and Astral Blackness during the week of San Diego Comic-con! We had to pivot due to restrictions against gatherings.

This year we will be gathering virtually on Zoom with all food and beverages on your own.

The AfroFuturism Lounge will be hosting our Annual Event via Zoom on Saturday, August 15, 2020, kicking off at 10 am.
The theme this year is “Freedom riders for justic”

The Afrofuturism Lounge is the first of its kind and back again for another round but modified to support social distancing. Proceeds from this event will benefit DETOUR (Depositing Empowerment Through Outreach & Urban Redevelopment). DETOUR is a mentoring program for girls of color whose mission is to increase access to education and employment opportunities for girls through our Focused And Naturally Confident Youth (F.A.N.C.Y.) Leadership programs (Expo, Leadership Academy, and Ambassador Internships). Our message is it is never too late to reposition yourself to passionately seek and fulfill your purpose! This ties in perfectly with the Afrofuturism and the principle of Sankofa. It's never too late to go back and fix it.

Last year, we were once again overwhelmed with the support and demand for this event. Every year, we are committed to listening to the voice of our customers with a focus on continuous improvement. We prevail upon you for patience and grace as we assure you we have taken into consideration all of our lessons learned from prior years so that the lounge can be even better this time around.
